The only place where this technique works against you is on the right arm. Since his skin is rather pale and the shades of pink and yellow on the wall behind him are also pale, it seems like the outside edge of his right arm is blending in with the background. Perhaps if you swapped the red and brown shapes by his right leg with the yellow and pink, the blue of his pants would have provided a good contrast.
I also see a good use of shadowing, and I can really see the folds and creases on his shirt. Nice technique.
